san marcos airport transportation Keep San Marcos Airport Transportation Simple
Choose the easiest way to get your group to or from the airport — and skip the parking headache entirely! San Marcos sits right on I-35, putting Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) (8001 Spirit of Texas Dr, Austin, TX 78719) about 30 miles north and San Antonio International Airport (SAT) (9800 Airport Blvd, San Antonio, TX 78216) about 50 miles south. Both are straightforward runs on I-35 — but I-35 through the San Marcos corridor is one of the most congested stretches in Texas, and splitting your group across multiple cars means multiple parking bills and multiple chances for someone to miss the flight.
A San Marcos airport shuttle bus keeps everyone together, gets you curbside at the right terminal, and lets the group relax instead of watching the traffic app. Call 737-383-1420 to compare airport shuttle options for your dates!

Yes — and it's one of the most popular summer group transportation requests in the area! Rio Vista Park (555 Charles Austin Dr, San Marcos, TX 78666) is the main put-in and take-out point for tubing on the San Marcos River, and parking there fills up fast on summer weekends. A minibus or charter bus drops your group at the park, stages nearby, and picks everyone up when the float is done — no one has to leave early to move a car, and no one gets stranded waiting for a rideshare after a long day on the water.
Compare available vehicles for your tubing trip date using the online form or by calling 737-383-1420!
For most San Marcos trips, booking two to four weeks in advance gives you solid availability and competitive pricing. For high-demand dates, book as early as possible — ideally three to six months out. The busiest stretches in the San Marcos area include Texas State home football games (September through November), prom season across Hays County schools (April and May), Texas State commencement (May and December), tubing season on the San Marcos River (May through September), and the Black Friday and holiday shopping rush at the San Marcos Premium Outlets.
Waiting until the last minute on any of those dates almost always means higher prices and fewer vehicles to choose from. Call 737-383-1420 as soon as you have a date in mind!
You Can Visit Any Destination!
See Where a San Marcos Charter Bus Can Take Your Group
That's the beauty of a charter bus — your group goes where YOU want to go, on YOUR schedule! San Marcos and the surrounding Hill Country are packed with destinations worth a group trip, from cave tours and spring-fed rivers to historic dance halls and world-class outlet shopping. Here are six great places to put on your itinerary!
Use the previous and next buttons, the left and right arrow keys, or swipe to browse six destinations.
San Marcos Premium Outlets
One of the largest outlet shopping centers in the United States, San Marcos Premium Outlets (3939 S I-35, San Marcos, TX 78666) features a wide range of stores along a sprawling open-air campus right on I-35. The outlet draws shoppers year-round from Austin, San Antonio, and across Texas — and on Black Friday and holiday weekends, the parking situation becomes a genuine obstacle. Charter bus groups from Austin and San Antonio regularly book round-trip shuttles here, dropping at the main entrance and picking up when the shopping is done.
A minibus or full-size charter bus is the smartest way to bring a large shopping group — everyone loads together, bags go in the undercarriage bays, and nobody fights for a parking spot on the busiest retail weekend of the year.
Wonder World Park
Wonder World Park (1000 Prospect St, San Marcos, TX 78666; Phone: (512) 392-3760) is Texas's most-visited cave attraction — and one of the only earthquake-formed caves in the United States open for tours. The park features guided cave tours through the San Marcos fault line, an anti-gravity house, a wildlife petting park, and a Texas-themed observation tower. It's a perennial favorite for school field trips, family reunions, and private group outings, and the property has ample space to accommodate charter buses in the parking area.
Tours run daily and can be arranged in advance for groups. A 15- to 35-passenger minibus is a great fit for school groups and smaller private parties; larger groups can step up to a full-size coach with undercarriage storage for backpacks and gear.
Meadows Center for Water and the Environment (Aquarena Springs)
Operated by Texas State University, the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment sits atop one of the largest and most biodiverse freshwater springs in North America — Spring Lake. The center offers glass-bottom boat tours that give riders a clear view of the spring ecosystem below the surface, as well as educational programs on Texas water resources. It's a popular destination for school field trips and eco-tours, and the parking area on the east side of the property can accommodate buses.
Group tours should be arranged in advance through the Meadows Center's reservations line. A 15- to 35-passenger minibus is ideal for classroom-sized groups; larger school groups can book multiple vehicles or a full-size coach.
Rio Vista Park & the San Marcos River
Rio Vista Park is the heartbeat of San Marcos summers — the primary put-in and take-out point for tubing on the San Marcos River, home to the famous Tube Chute rapids, and the gathering spot for the city's most popular warm-weather tradition. The park fills to capacity on summer weekends, and parking along Charles Austin Drive is gone by mid-morning on a hot Saturday. A charter bus or minibus drops your group at the park entrance, stages nearby while you float, and picks everyone up when the coolers are empty and the tubes are back.
It's the cleanest possible solution for a tubing group — no one drives wet, no one leaves early, and no one has to navigate the post-float parking lot chaos. Tubing season runs May through September.
Gruene Hall
Established in 1878, Gruene Hall is Texas's oldest continually operating dance hall — and one of the most beloved live music venues in the state. Located in the Gruene Historic District of New Braunfels, about 20 miles south of San Marcos on I-35, the hall hosts live country, Americana, and Texas music acts nearly every weekend of the year. Artists from Willie Nelson to Lyle Lovett to George Strait have played the storied wooden stage.
Parking in the Gruene Historic District is limited and fills fast on weekend nights. A minibus or party bus from San Marcos keeps your group together for the drive down, drops you steps from the hall's front door, and brings everyone home safely after the last song. Check the Gruene Hall event calendar for upcoming shows.
Calaboose African American History Museum
Housed in an 1873 historic jail building, the Calaboose African American History Museum (200 Martin Luther King Dr, San Marcos, TX 78666; Phone: (512) 393-8421) is one of the oldest African American history museums in Texas and a cornerstone of San Marcos heritage tourism. The museum documents the history of the African American community in Hays County from Reconstruction through the civil rights era, with rotating exhibits and guided tour programs for school and community groups. It's a meaningful stop on Central Texas heritage education itineraries, and the surrounding neighborhood is easily navigated by a minibus or smaller charter bus.
Group visits should be coordinated in advance with the museum. Pair it with a stop at the nearby San Marcos Activity Center or a walk through the historic downtown square for a full community heritage day trip.
